Question -
5 |
Can I bike to Ohiopyle from Scarlett Knob? |
Answer |
You can bike to Ohiopyle on Pennsylvania Route 381. However, we do not recommend it due to narrow shoulders, guard rails close to the road, and heavy traffic including log and coal trucks. It is best - and safest - to drive the 2 miles to one of the parking areas for the trail. |

Question -
16 |
What is your address to put in my gps? |
Answer |
We are working on more detailed directions from futher away for when we update our site. We have not yet found a gps that recognizes our physical address - 133 Scarlett Knob Rd., Ohiopyle. Directions into the area tend to use the shortest route. However, they fail to consider that these roads are narrow, curve-ridden and have significant elevation changes. Worst of all, alot of these back roads are completely unsigned, so you can not find your way. We have also seen directions that take you to the "geographical" center of Ohipyle because they can not find our physical address. The geographical center of Ohiopyle is located on a now non-existant road behind a picnic area which has been closed for years.
We have seen numerous directions printed from these sites when campers arrive. We are not sure we could find our way with these directions and we live here!
Please refer to our directions page.http://scarlettknobcampground.com/PAGES/directions.htm |
